Trail Mix
Trail mix is such an underrated snack! It is so easy to make at home, is fully customizable, and is a great travel or grab-and-go snack. Unfortunately, many store-bought options use inflammatory oils (something we should try to avoid when possible), so making your own ensures a good, clean snack. It’s also a great way to get your kids in the kitchen!
Ingredients
1/4 cup raw almonds
1/4 cup raw cashews
1/4 cup raw walnuts
1/8 cup raw pumpkin seeds
1/8 cup raw Brazil nuts
1/4 cup Hu chocolate snacking gems
1/8-1/4 cup raisins, dried cranberries, or banana chips (optional)
1-2 tsp avocado oil (only if roasting, see Notes below)
1/4-1/2 tsp salt (only if roasting, see Notes below)
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F. Either line a sheet pan with parchment or use a stainless steel pan.
Lay nuts out in a single layer and drizzle with oil and salt.
Roast for 5-10 minutes, shaking the pan halfway through.
Once cool, add in chocolate gems and dried fruit, if using.
Note
You don’t have to roast the nuts, but that does help to intensify their flavor. If you’d rather skip that step, simply mix the nuts, chocolate, and dried fruit and you’re good to go.
